The Department of Technology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) offers a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Engineering Education which prepares professionals who will qualify for certification to teach technology education (a critical shortage area in Maryland and across the U.S.) and STEM at the middle and high school levels. Emphasis is placed on improving the teaching-learning process; the study of technology, its evolution, systems, techniques, utilization and social cultural significance; and on technical applications to support classroom and laboratory activities. The Department also offers the M.Ed. program in Career and Technology Education (CTED). Coursework is offered on the UMES campus in Princess Anne, the Maryland Center for Career and Technology Education Studies located at the Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI), and other satellite locations.
